Assemblyman Mark Leno Decries the Repeated Prosecution of Ed Rosenthal

Mark Leno, formerly a Supervisor for the City and County of San Francisco, was one of the authors of the California Legislature's Medical Marijuana Program Act

"I am outraged at the Federal Government's continued willingness to spend precious resources on the prosecution of Ed Rosenthal for his efforts to serve extremely ill patients and their providers with much-needed medication. Ed Rosenthal has been a leader in helping to provide access to safe and affordable medication. The estimated millions of dollars spent on persecuting Ed could have been used to feed countless seniors, house the homeless, educate our children or serve many of the needs of those less fortunate. Federal prosecutors could better provide for the welfare of our citizens through the prosecution of individuals who pose a real danger to public safety. Through its continued attacks on sick and dying patients, our government is acting in a manner that is nothing short of abusive and unconscionable."
